Judicial appointment and resignation files, 1987-1990.

This series contains documents relating to the appointments made by Governor Martinez of individuals to judicial positions throughout the state from 1987 to 1990. These documents include correspondence to, and sometimes from, the appointee, as well as a completed application giving details of the appointee's personal and professional life. Most of the appointments are in the county and circuit courts, although there are a few at the higher levels as well. The series also contains judicial resignations. There are two types of resignations. The first type are resignations from judicial office entirely. The second type are the resignations of jurists who were being elevated from one court to another, e.g., from a circuit court to a court of appeals, and were required to resign the lower post in order to accept the promotion.
